I don't see it mentioned anywhere in the literature or drive compatibility, it says only SATA, however the PMC chip should support SAS drives...has anyone tested this?

Hi Nicholas,

The PCM chip may support SAS drives, but the Pegasus does not. Also the edge connectors are SATA, you cannot plug a SAS drive into a Pegasus.

Thank you, this is good information -- so the backplane connections are SATA only then?
Does this also apply to the newer thunderbolt Pegasus models like the 2, 3, and 32?

Just wondering if any of them will support SAS drives...it's easy to find cheap refurb'd SAS drives and they tend to have better construction and longer lifespans, that's why I'm wondering.

Cheers!

Hi Nicholas,

All the Pegasus family are designed to use SATA drives only.
