I would like to buy few Seagate IronWolf 10 TB, ST10000VN004, interne Festplatte, 8,9 cm (3,5 Zoll), 256 MB Cache, 7200 RPM, SATA 6Gb/s
disks will my Pegasus Raid system support it or wont it be able to read such big disks? And if not what is the max TB size it supports? What happen if i try to insert a 10TB disk?

Pegasus2 R6 unit can support upto 4TB drives and the higher capacity drives are non tested by promise, so the incomaptible drives may work or it may not detect and there are more possibilities for data corruption and it is always recomended to use only the tested drives for optimal performance.

You say that an R6 "can support up to 4TB drives" but your compatibility list shows a 6TB Toshiba drive (model # MD04ACA600) listed. Does it work??
Also, I have an original Pegasus2 R6 12TB unit with the 6 Hitachi HGST HDS72302 2TB drives. One drive is going bad. This drive is no longer listed in your 'compatibility list' document. Why is that?

Pegasus 2 R6 units are tested only with 4 TB drives and the 6TB is for Pegasus 2 R8 unit.
About the other Pegasus unit you have is a Pegasus 1 Series with one bad drive which has the Drive model: HGST Deskstar 7K3000 HDS723020BLA642 2TB MN0NB5C0 6Gbs and it is still compatible with the unit and it is still there in the compatiblity list.

Thank you for your answer. I thought I had a Pegasus2, I was mistaken.
I ordered a replacement Hitachi HGST Deskstar HDS723020BLA642 but the company sent me a Toshiba 2 TB instead!
Now I am even more disappointed, your Pegasus1 compatibility list does not list anything larger than a 4 TB drive. :-(
These units cost quite a bit of money, I do not feel like I should have to buy an entire new unit (that I cannot afford) just to get larger capacity disks. (There was an amazing sale on Hitachi 10 TB drives a couple of days ago that I could not take advantage of.)
It seems unfair that I can only double my current capacity, I cannot buy these 10 TB drives to get 60 TB of raw capacity. I have no need for Thunderbolt 2 or 3 speeds in my home setup. The 4 TB drives in your Pegasus1 compatibility list are of limited availability these days. (How about certifying some more recent disks in your older products??)
Edited to add: (This is the wrong forum to ask in, but I will anyway.) The compatibility list for the Pegasus2 R6 lists the Toshiba MD04ACA600 6 TB drive. Is that same drive likely to work fine in the Pegasus1 R6? Even if it is too 'new' to be included in the Pegasus1 compatibility list?

I had the same question and found no firm answer anywhere, so I gave it a try by myself and am here to report the result.
I installed four HGST 10TB (HDN721010ALE604 / H3IKNAS100012873SWW) HDDs to my Pegasus2 R4 and it works perfectly.
Hope this info will be of help for anyone who is considering upgrading to larger HDDs.

I ordered 5 Seagate 12TB Ironwolf hard drives and a Pegasus2 R8. However, I found out to late that the 12TB drives are not validated for the Pegasus2 R8.
The drives arrived yesterday, the Pegasus2 will arrive on Monday or Tuesday.
My question is if it is wasted time to give the combination Pegasus2 R8 / Ironwolf 12TB a try? Should I send back the Pegasus directly or should I test it? In Raid 5, i will get 48TB usable disc space, and when I add 3 more drives later on I should end up with 84TB.
Is a volume size of 84TB even possible on a Pegasus2?
I know, I should have asked earlier, but now it is to late. The alternative would be to buy a Drobo 5D3, but basically I really wanted to use a Pegasus2 R8 (more bays, better price per bay as compared to the Drobo).
I would really appreciate your opinions and suggestions on this.

Did you run any tests to confirm that they are working at proper speeds? I think I heard a report a year ago of somebody running > 4tb HDDs and it technically worked but reads or writes were much slower than what you would expect.
