"Disk not ejected properly"

Hi all.

In late 2014, I got a brandnew iMac 5k bundled with a brandnew Pegasus R6 (6 x 2 TB Toshiba).

Everything worked flawlessly with Yosemite and El Capitán for more than two years - until I upgraded to firmware version 5.04.0000.61 some months ago. Since then the R6 shows a weird behavior.

When the Mac goes to sleep (or is being put to sleep), so will the R6. When I wake up the Mac the R6 wakes up as well - but randomly the drive icon won't show up on the desktop and I'll get the "Disk not properly ejected" alert. Then after 30 seconds or so the volume will finally mount.

Needless to say that this is a nightmare.

Is there a way to downgrade to an earlier firmware version that doesn't cause this behavior - or is there any other thing I could try? Recently upgraded from Mac OS X 10.11.6 to macOS 10.12.6 hoping to get the problem solved, but to no avail.

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Greetings from Germany.

Hi Michael,

Kindly install the Pegasus drivers for MAC to see how it works?

Hi All

I have exactly the same issue. Have updated Firmware and Utililty. Installed the Mac drivers but it's still the same. I have just bought an new 2019 iMac (lots of overtime and saving) and it does exactly the same thing on a brand new system as it did on my older mac. I have 2 R6 drives and have just added one at a time to see if it made a difference, added them both linked and both seperately but everytime the mac goes to sleep the drives eject.

Did anyone get a solution for this?

Im having the same issue.  Im running Catalina 10.15.2.  Whenever I put the computer to sleep, the drives are sleeping.  But when I wake the computer up, I get notice that the drives have been ejected improperly.

Any idea how to stop this anyone?  Running Pegasus R6 with 15 TB

Same thing.  New 2019 iMac with R4.  Next morning I have 4 or 5 ejection error messages. Have downloaded latest versions and drivers.

I have had this problem through multiple updates. Extremely annoying. Can't believe there isn't a fix for it.

Hi all,

Please use the below link and adjust the Power Saving levels.

Though the link is for Pegasus 2, the instructions are same for Pegasus 3/32 as well.

If the issue is still not resolved, please create a case at https://support.promise.com/ .

We will help you.

Thanks !

After following all the instructions, and confirming my powerlevel was set to 0, and putting the disks to sleep, the issue keeps happening.

I've noticed that it happens more often when Im using lightroom, and my images are on the Promise drives.
