Vtrak E610f S/N: R7SU 08430028 The controller 2 (M36F08407400070  Rev 3.4) is not accessible by WEB PAM PRO, and the system lost performance, is not able to copy files into Storage and just is able to read. The controller 1 is working well and is accessible. I found at the defective controller  The Time Keeper SNAPHAT M4T32-BR12SH1 with less than 0.5 Volts on battery terminals and was substituted.

Attaching the serial cable to the Hyper terminal on PC, and pressing enter, the controller does not launch the CLI prompt , does not shows the Login prompt. Only shows the following prompt: "PBL_RAM>"

I don’t know what this prompt means, any command that is useable in CLI mode and typed in this prompt the system answers "Error: Illegal command: "word typed".

I suppose that the controller can have lost the firmware becoming unreachable to the system. If it is true, how can I recover this firmware? If it's not possible and  buy another controller module with Mac version firmware 3.X it will enough for replacement? This Storage was working well for almost ten years and  now I have this problem and only now know that is out of suport, but there are many used itens available for sale and I need some help to specified which are usable in my system.

Hi Julio,

Attaching the serial cable to the Hyper terminal on PC, and pressing enter, the controller does not launch the CLI prompt , does not shows the Login prompt. Only shows the following prompt: "PBL_RAM>"

This means that the controller has failed. PBL_RAM is a very low level which was available for recovery purposes, but you can't use it for recovery if the controller is bad.

To try and reboot from this prompt, you might try the 'res' command, but you will most likely see the same prompt.

If you have a MAC controller you will need to replace it with a MAC controller.

If you have a single controller working, the Ex10 will function normally with one controller. You should probably unseat controller 2 (pull it maybe 1 inch out) but leave it in the slot. If you remove it nothing will be cooled as all the air will go through the empty controller 2 slot.

Hi promise team. Thank You for your answer.

I used "res" command as instructed. The system was reset and showed  "Warning: Sys Date and Time out of range  At shell prompt, please use 'date' command to set up System Date and Time and then reboot using 'reset' command.”

I followed these instructions and the system was loaded.

Now both controllers are working and all four fibrechannels ports are communicating. After this, I checked both controllers and all settings are quite the same.

I think, the failure was caused by old battery, that was with very low voltage.

Hi Julio,

That's good news. But keep in mind that if you power the unit off, the same thing will happen when you power it on.

The battery is the yellow block inside the controller. I do not think they are still available, but if you want to look for a replacement this is the part.

Thanks for advice.
I bought one Timekeeper SNAPHAT M4T32-BR12SH6, SH6 end means a little bit more temperature tolerance (original end = SH1), already replaced and working.
