I would like to know whether I can daisychain a Pegasus32 R6 and a Pegasus3 R4. I am currently using a 2017 iMac for editing and managing my digital photos. Currently my photos are all stored on a Pegasus32 R6 24TB unit. I am running out of room. Backup is currently split with all photos from 2019 forward being backed up to a Pegasus3 R4 16TB  unit and all photos prior to 2019 being backed up to a G Technolgy external hard drive. Backup is nearing capacity.

i have recently purchased a 72TB Sandisk G-Raid Shuttle 4 4 Bay Thunderbolt 3 Raid Array (4x18tb) and backed up all of my photographs from the Pegasus32 R6 unit to this G-Raid. I would now like to repurpose the Pegasus3 R4 16TB unit by wiping it and daisy chaining it to my primary Pegasus32 R6 thereby increasing my front end active storage to 32TB (20TB + 12TB). Can this be done and what steps do I need to take to make it happen.

Hi Andrew,

There are 2 thunderbolt ports on the Pegasus, 1 port connects to your Mac and the other is available for daisy-chaining. The ports are not dedicated, you can connect either port to the Mac and use the other for daisy-chaining.

The simplest way to repurpose the Pegasus3 R4 is to open macOS Disk Utility, select the Pegasus3 (it is suggested to have only the Pegasus3 connected) then select the Erase option. Be sure to select HFS+ as the filesystem.
