Hi Pegasus,

I need urgent help, I cannot mount my Pegasus2 R6 on my new MacBook Pro M4 with Sequia 15.5 (24F74).

I installed the Pegasus DEXT Driver and followed the instruction of the manual, but it does not work.

I use the Apple adapter A1790 for connection.

Please help me, what is the problem?

Thanks!

Hi Jan,

you can check the status of the installed DEXT driver in terminal.

Open a terminal window
Type: systemextensionsctl list | grep promise

Outcome should read [activated enabled]  for driver 21.1.0

If not, check the driver extensions in your Mac's system settings:
General > Login and Extensions > Driver Extensions > click the 'i' symbol on the right.

Here you can enable the Pegasus DEXT driver installer if necessary.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the reply.

However:

1st: I've typed in the terminal: systemextensionsctl list | grep promise

The ourtcome is [activated enabled]  for driver 21.1.0/1

2nd: The Pegasus DEXT Driver Installer is set "on"

Question:

Do I also need to install the PegasusPRo DEXT Driver Installer as shown in your printscreen?

So far the Pegaus2 R6 failed to mount on plugin.

I urge you to help me to get this running, because I need to get back to my data stored on the drive!

Thank you very much for a feedback with a positive support :-)

KR, Jan

Hey Jan,

The PegasusPro driver is not necessary, it is in my screenshot because I have both units in my setup.

Since the driver is installed correctly, please check first if the device is seen in your Mac System Report > hardware > Thunderbolt section.

If not, check the Thunderbolt cable connection, maybe the issue is with the TB2>TB3 adapter you are using or you can try different Thunderbolt ports on your Mac.

Also, if possible, try to connect the device to an older Mac with TB2 ports, see if it starts there and then check the firmware of the unit. Latest version for Pegasus2 is 5.04.0000.64, update if necessary and try again to connect it to your new Mac.

Dear Frank,

I've check with the Pegasus2 R6 connected. The Systemreadout (sorry it is in German):

Pegasus2-R:

  Herstellername:    Promise Technology, Inc.
  Gerätename:    Pegasus2-R
  Modus:    Thunderbolt 2
  Geräte-ID:    0x9
  Hersteller-ID:    0x2
  Geräterevision:    0x3
  UID:    0x00020000000F4030
  Routenzeichenfolge:    1
  Firmware-Version:    19.2
  Port (Upstream):
  Status:    Gerät angeschlossen
  Verbindungsstatus:    0x2
  Geschwindigkeit:    20 Gb/s
  Firmware Version des Link-Controller:    0.13.0
  Port:
  Status:    Kein Gerät angeschlossen
  Verbindungsstatus:    0x7
  Geschwindigkeit:    Up to 20 Gb/s
  Firmware Version des Link-Controller:    0.13.0

I downloaded the lates firmware for the Pegasus2 R6 from www.promise.com webpage, however, the recent file on your webpage for the latest firmware 5.04.0000.64 is corrpupt (error message stated that it refused to run) and does not work.

-> Would it be possible to upgrade your webpage or send me the firmware by e-mail?

-> Also, the reply from the hardware info on Thunderbolt - is it OK?

Many thanks for not giving up and help me to finally get the Pegasus2 R6 running again on my new Mac.

Kind Regards,

Jan

Hi Jan,

the hardware info is correct, no problem there.

Regarding the firmware, the file is not an executable, so to update the firmware you would need to open the file from within the Promise Utility.

Open the Utility (please make sure the utility is the correct version for Pegasus2, 4.06.0000.01)

https://www.promise.com/DownloadFile.aspx?DownloadFileUID=6740

If the Pegasus device is found by the Mac then a window will open to show the device dashboard.

Unlock the utility by clicking the lock icon in the bottom left corner.

Then, in the main Mac menu, choose Admin > Firmware Update to select the firmware file and start the process.

Kind regards,

Frank

I'm having the same trouble right now, but I followed this thread and it didn't seem to work for me.

Mac Air  M4 Sequioa 15.5

Pegasus 2 R4

Installed the Dex version 21.1.0 and enabled it

Promise firmware is 5.04.0000.62

The promise works on my iMac Pro with 15.5 but not on this Macbook Air. When I plug it in, it turns on but doesn't mount. I'm using the same cable as Jan. Not sure what I'm missing.

Thanks!!
