I upgrade the Disk 3TB to 8x new 4TB. I rebuild the Disk step by step. I lose no Data!

But now i can not expand the Logical Drive from 15TB to 20TB.

If i want (open) the Logical Drive, the Mesage is: failed Mount disk8 fail: This disk does not have any mounted volume.

What is wrong? All Disk are new.

Please Help, thanks

Hi Donald,

If the Pegasus shows in the Promise Utility, please generate a service report, zip it and attach it to one of your posts.

The Serice report button can be found in the Promise Utility Subsystem Information page at the upper right side. Be sure to unlock the utility with the lock button at the lower left side of the Utility.

Hi Donald,

A few points...

What is wrong? All Disk are new.

Almost none of the disks are new. Here are the power-on-hours for the disks. PD9 was probably new, it has only 310 power on hours.

Hi Donald,

I upgrade the Disk 3TB to 8x new 4TB. I rebuild the Disk step by step. I lose no Data!

How can this be true if...

If i want (open) the Logical Drive, the Mesage is: failed Mount disk8 fail: This disk does not have any mounted volume.

You have a RAID LUN and it's online.

[Logdrv Info]

===============================================================================
LdId Alias OpStatus Capacity Stripe RAID CachePolicy SYNCed
===============================================================================
0    LD0         OK            15TB      1MB    RAID6   RAhead/WBack    Yes

If the volume won't mount, then there is some problem with the filesystem.

But this is concerning.

PD 1 was failed for PFA, (Predictive Failure Analysis) and you forced it online. If a disk with stale information is added to an array, it can cause unrepairable damage to the filesystem. This may be the reason the LUN can't be mounted. I would not recommend anyone use the force online command unless they understand how to use it safely.

PD1 has failed and it should be replaced. You should not reuse it or force it online.

Hi Donald,

I upgrade the Disk 3TB to 8x new 4TB. I rebuild the Disk step by step. I lose no Data!

But now i can not expand the Logical Drive from 15TB to 20TB.

We have some knowledge base articles explaining the process.

This KB shows the full process.

But if you have Sequoia, it's simpler, this KB shows the difference.

important inforamtion:

The Toshiba 3TB disk failures began in 2022. I subsequently replaced all Toshiba 3TB drives with Western Digital 4TB drives over a period of four years, up to now, all eight of which are now 8x 4TB Western Digital Enterprise series drives.
