1 Battery(ies) Not Present (Enclosure 1 Battery 2 Not Present)

I recently have encountered a controller failure on our D5800f.

I have shutdown the subsystem, removed the failed controller and restarted. So now we are running as as single controller subsystem. Subsystem health is reporting a warning as noted in the title. Why is it reporting a battery missing for battery 2 when there is only 1 battery in the configuration?

Is there a way to clear this warning from the enclosure?

Second and more importantly, is there a service to repair a failed controller or where can I get a replacement controller?

Hi Dean,

The battery is for saving any data in cache in the event of a power outage, it is not necessary for the controller to work. But if the battery is malfunctioning or missing the controller will go into write-thru mode which means it will write directly to disk without using the cache, which is a lot slower. You can still use the cache by disabling the Adaptive Writeback Cache setting in the controller settings.

You can buy new D5000 batteries from the Promise Shop.

They are temporarily out of stock at this time but more batteries have been ordered and they will be available soon.

Thanks for the response .... I do not need a battery, I need a controller. I assume promiseshop can help with that as well? I will check with them.

So if the D5800 is run as a single controller config as opposed to a dual controller config, then it always displays a rogue (since there is no controller 2 or controller 2 battery) - warning about the contoller 2 battery? And there is no way to dismiss or turn that off, do I understand that correctly?

The Promise Shop does not sell shipping products, it has various controllers/drives/cables for discontinued products.

To get a new D5800 controller you will have to contact a reseller, they can be found at this link.
