What chips do Sanlink 3 N1 and T1 use, and what is the functional difference between them?

This forum is borken - SANLink 3 doesn't have its own category yet.

What ethernet chips do Sanlink 3 N1 and T1 use?

This information is absolutely critical for making a buying decision, and it's not in the product specification. Also the knowledge base page only has the pages https://kb.promise.com/thread/what-is-the-os-version-compatible-for-sanlink3-t1-and-n1/ and

And, is there any notable functional difference between them, difference in speed, connectors?

Or is N1 just smaller and hence better.

The product specs at https://www.promise.com/Products/SANLink/SANLink3-N1/ and https://www.promise.com/Products/SANLink/SANLink3-T1 respectively look exactly the same, they reveal no difference at all.

This clarification is also needed for making a buying decision.

(N1 has product code name SL3N1GL .)

Please clarify ASAP, thanks!

SANLink Buffers

Hello, I am looking for details on how many buffer credits the SANLink2 and 3 fiber channel devices have.

Specifically these versions: SANLink2 8G FC; SANLink2 16G FC and SANLink3 F2.

Does anyone know where this is documented, or have this information?

Thank you.

SanLink 3 T1 to NAS connection

Hi,

i want to connect my MacBook to my QNAP NAS using 10GBit.

The NAS has a SFP+ 10 GBit port. My idea is to connect the MacBook using SanLink T1 to the SFP+ port of the NAS. Cable length is about 15-20 m. I need a recommendation which cable/ connector combination would be used in this setting.

SanLink2 and SanLink3 speed issues in OSX 10.12

Hi there!

We installed 2 new Editing Suites in our Company. Two Imacs, one from 2015 and a brand new one from 2017.

The one from 2015 has a SanLink2 TB2 10g Box installed.

The other one a SanLink3 via TB3.

Both Imacs are running 10.12 Sierra.

We tested all our Connections and all available Drivers leading to the Conclusion that we only achieve maximum bandwith via IMacs running El Capitan.

Is this a driver Problem in Sierra?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I don't get a connection, it only works to different devices, that are only 1 GBit.

Do you have any suggestions? Help very appreciated!

can't have 10G speed in Windows10.

Hi all,

I have a SANLIN3-T1 NBaseT adapter. I tried to perform 10G/bps throughput test, using iperf3 between Linux and windows. A SANLINK3 is connected windows but windows showed only 6.5Gbps.

Is there any recommended configuration for reaching 10Gbps throughput in Windows?

Thanks.

Fibre and Copper in one adapter?

Hi

I am new to networking so forgive me for these simple questions. I and am interested in connecting a Thunderbolt host computer to a 10GBe interface storage. I have one storage that is copper interfaced (RJ-45) and a second storage is Fibre interfaced.

Is it possible to add one copper and one fibre transceiver to a Sanlink2 SFP+ adapter (or an alternative option), or would I need two separate adapters, one copper / one fibre? I would not be connecting both storages at the same time.

Or does the card just not work that way? I noticed in the SFP+ compatibilty there were only fibre transceivers so Im guessing it is only one or the other? Do any PCIE cards allow for both interfaces?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Is the SANLink3 T1 Compatible with Thunderbolt 2 Macs??

Owner of a Pegasus2 R4 connected to a Mac mini (Late 2014) via Thunderbolt 2. Ran the latest firmware / software updates.

Attempting to connect the SANLink3 T1 using the Apple Thunderbolt 2 to 3 Adapter. Unfortunately the Mac mini (Late 2014) with Thunderbolt 2 does not detect the SANLink3 T1.

To verify the SANLink3 T1 is good, I have tested it on MacBook Pro 15-inch (2017) model and it works.

Is the SANLink3 T1 compatible with Macs with Thunderbolt 2 Ports?

The diagram in the article seems to suggest its possible
