SanLink3 N1 direct to another SanLink3 N1

This is a new setup in workshop, will this work?

Mac Mini to 1st R8, 1st R8 connected to 2nd R8 via SanLink3 N1 and a dedicated LAN cable.

Problem we have is the 2nd R8 just doesn't power up via the SanLink3.

The plan was that the 2nd R8 would be a RAID1 duplicate of the 1st R8.

Tandberg NEO LTO7 Compatibility

In the face of emerging LTO8 and our own aging LTO5, connected through a TB Sanlink2 FC 8GB, we were able to get a NEO LTO7. The compatibility page for the SanLink2 from Oct. 2016 states the LTO6 and no changes have been made since. I am kind of struggling to get the proper transceivers as the list is not very long to begin with and again, it's on Oct. 2016 level. Is there an update to the receiver compatibility list or a beta driver or even a plan to cover Neo LTO7?

Help would be highly appreciated

SANLink2 10G Base-T stopped working after upgrading to macos high sierra 10.13.3

After the last OS update to 10.13.3, the device stopped working (both with DHCP and manual config). The behavior is exactly the same when I needed to upgrade the driver to v1.8.2.

Sanlink2 10G Base-T

Connected my SANLink2 10G Base-T to a new Mac Mini. Everytime I restart my Mac Mini server it loses the connection with my switch and I have to manually disconnect the power. After reconnecting the power supply it starts to negotiate and build up the connection again it works. Is this normal behavior?

Not quite sure where to start troubleshooting.

See attached image when connection is working on both channels.

Does SANLink2 10GBase-T works with other 10Gbps switches

Hi,

I would like to know if SANLink2 10GBase-T works with all 10Gbps switches? Or is it strictly compatible with Ethernet Switches mentioned in the Compatibility List?

Slow 10Gbe connection to Synology NAS

I already chatted with Synology support and they said that I had to check with Promise to see if my settings are incorrect.

I have a Synology 1817+ with 10Gbe PCIe controller installed with a 10Gbe cable going into the SANLink2 10G SFP+, which then has a TB2 cable going into my Pegasus2 R8 (which is also connected to my R6), and another TB2 cable going into my iMac (13,2: late 2012 27"). I'm only getting between 50-100MB/s transferring from the Pegasus2 R8 to my NAS which is 1Gb speeds, not 10Gb so I'm wondering if there's a setting incorrect in my SANLink2 setup or on my iMac.

Am I missing something that's preventing my speeds from increasing?

Any advice or workabout for this? Thanks.

SANLink2 10G SFP Compatibility with Cisco switch

I was wondering if anyone knows a 10G Ethernet transceiver which would be compatiable with both the SANLink2 10G SFP and a Cisco 10GbE switch. I've looked at the compatability matrix, which doesn't seem to include all of the compatiable transceivers. Also, am I correct in my belief that the transceivers need to match on both ends (at the SANLink and the Cisco switch)? I'm much more experienced with FC than with 10GbE and I've had speed issues with mismatched transceivers in the past (even though they were the same speed and specs). Thanks!

SANLink2 8G FC Compatibility

Hello,

We currently have a VTrak E610fs s/n M42H11913500096 directly connected to an xserve 3,1 Early 2009 via a LSILogic, LSI7404EP, Firmware 1.3.23.0, EFI 1.05.06.00 card. The xserve is running OS X 10.11.6. Everything is working fine in this setup.

What we want to do is upgrade the xserve to a MacPro 6,1 (Late 2013) and use a SANLink2 8G FC to connect the VTrak to the MacPro. According to the compatibility document for the SANLink2 there seems to be some compatibility limitations.

The compatibility document for the SANLink2 states that for a VTrak Ex10 E610f you need firmware 10.13.2270.02. The firmware on our VTrak is 10.06.2270.00 for Mac for both controllers. I've looked in the downloads section and this seems to be the highest virmware version that the Vtrak will go for Mac.

Will the SANLink2 8G FC work with a VTrak Ex10 E610f with firmware 10.06.2270.00 for Mac?

Thanks

SanLink2 not compatible with iMac17,1?

Hi all,

I recently upgraded my iMac from El Capitan to Sierra. When I did the OS upgrade it changed the model identifiier of my Mac to 17,1. I just downloaded the compatibility list from promise and it shows 15,1 being the only compatible iMac for this device. Does anyone know a work around? Thanks.

SANLink2 SFP+ not recognised by MacPro 6,1 (2013)

Starting this thread in case additional support can be provided>

This seems to be a common issue with the SANLink2 SFP+, where the Promise Utility running on a new style MacPro 6,1 (2013) is unable to recognise the SANLink2 device.

I've downloaded the firmware v2.0.4 a half dozen times now, and re-installed, re-booted, and its the same issue. Utility doesn't see anything, but the Apple system tree can the SANLink2, and the System Preferences -> Network can see it (though requires manual configuration). Despite this it not possible to ping anything on the other side of the SANLink2 or upload / download data. I've also tried the Thunderbolt cable in all 6 of the Mac's Thunderport2 ports, and have tried the other end in both Thunderport ports on the SANLink2 - but the Utility conitnues to sit there empty!!!

Needing help now, as starting to wonder why I have spent £600 on a useless piece of kit !!!

Thanks in advance for any ideas or tips,

Hangs, slowdowns on Mac OS X 10.11

Hi all
we've this big issue and we've a suspect is caused by something related to the Sanlink2 adapter (or maybe the driver itself). Our network consists of 10 Macpro, with 8 configured with sanlink2 adapters (eth version), linked to a NETGEAR XS708E switch and a Synology NAS RS3614xs+. The problems are random slowdowns and hangs during read/write operations (from client to mounted remote volumes). In this situation the TX rate drops from normal 10 Gb speed to 512 Kb/s! This strange problem is not reproducible and normally happens while we save files from Photoshop or Indesign; the saving process slowdowns dramatically and sometimes we've waiting several minutes before it ends normally. We've verified both destination routes and devices (the Synology with its network adapter and the Netgear switch)... both are OK and are running without any visible problem. Server logs are OK.
When the first slowdown succeded, all transfers from/to server are slowed as well: during this hangs is virtually impossible to copy a file using Finder, and the normal navigation on the remote volume is strongly compromised... The only way to fix it is to disable/enable the Sandisk2 device on Network Control Panel (client side). Note that this fix is only a temporary workaround because the random hangs are still presents and possibles. Note also that this issue isn't size-related and can trigger with small or big files, without any differences.
It can be a driver problem? We've 7 Macpro with El Capitan and 1 with Yosemite. All clients are running the latest version of Sanlink2 driver.
We've some wireshark logs if needed (taken during one of these hangs).
What can we do to fix it? Is there any experience about similar issues?
Thank you.
