Reset of Apollo Cloud 2 saying no internet access

After resetting the device went green/white awaiting activation. I went through this and got the code sent. I set the new password but on submission it says check your internet access. I can see the Apollo has an IP adderss and I can see it can obviously reach the internet otherwise it would not have requested the code.

Please help.

I have two Cloud 2 Duo 8TB "cloud" servers that I had to put in storage during COVID and have since unpacked them only to discover that they no longer will connect. Not only can I not access the 16TB of data, but I have two very large paper weights. Any suggestions as to what direction to go? I have chatted with "Eddie" at BlueAlly who says that I needed to discuss this with Promise. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

I bought the Apollo Cloud Duo and set it up about 10 days ago without a problem.

Installing the Apollo Utility on my laptop stopped the VPN working, so I can no longer get email on my laptop. On other computers here, the VPN and email still work fine.

After transferring about 2tb of files to it via the Apollo Utility, I realised that there were errors in the transfer.

I decided to have another go and trashed the enclosing folder and emptied the trash. However the utility on my computer and phone and iPad all showed that the Apollo disc was 50% even though the trash was empty. That's the second fault.

I reset the Apollo. This worked OK but re-"claiming" the device was a problem. I had to restart the Apollo and the laptop several times before the serial number of the Apollo could be "claimed".

I then transferred all my files (the original 2TB) to a USB 3 hard drive which took about 5 hours. Normally, copying takes longer than reading so I expected that the transfer onto the Apollo would not take any longer than this.

I started the USB transfer on Friday evening. I was disappointed to see that the Apollo had named the incoming data after the name of the USB hard drive, not after the enclosing folder on the hard drive. Anyway…

The transfer toiled away with its hard drive rattling away all over the weekend. I don't think I have seen such a slow transfer ever, even if it was USB 1. After 24 hours, only 5% was transferred!

Finally, on Monday morning, I checked the status of the transfer to find a message "transfer failed from USB device." with only 30% of the transfer completed.

I dragged the USB transfer folder to the trash. The folder disappeared from the files view but the Trash view says that the trash is empty. And 16 of the disc space on the Apollo is still taken up. So now I can't empty the trash and have only on optiojn… Reset the Apollo and start again. Misery!

I'm disappointed with the Apollo so far. While it is generally easy to connect, the limited interface is awful. For example, my 2TB is mainly photographs but I don't really want all 2TBs worth showing up in Photographs. There's no way to prevent this happening.

If I can even get my files onto the Apollo, I guess it will, in a limited way, do what I want but it could be so much more, with only a little more work from Promise.

I have looked in the manual for ways to get an error log. If search in the pdf manual for anything, the headings are all "returning the product…" Ominous. And nothing about logs.

Hello everyone, The first issue is now i want to use IPad to upload some videos connect with Apollo cloud machine(the first Gen of 2T) in different IP address. but it was not working for that. if i uploaded videos by same IP address, then it worked. so that i dont know why for that. No Remote Time Machine Access

One of the pros for buying the Apollo Cloud was the ability to do Time Machine backups over the internet. It was working fine for Time Machine backups at home, but when I try remotely Time Machine keeps telling me it cannot find the drive.

The drive IS mounted, visible in Finder, and I can see the Time Machine backup drive. It mounts. But Time Machine just won't find the disk.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is this a glitch? Any advice would be most welcome.

Recently bought my Apollo, and everything is working great, except the Google Drive sync.

It syncs to my account, however it doesn't seem to open the correct files.

The correct path to the links don't seem to be communicating correctly. I have tried canceling and reinstalling the google drive profile and no success.

I tried calling customer support and was told that I would get a call back. That was a few days ago.

Since I also use Google drive, it would be great to have access to that account using Apollo. Please advise how to fix.

Apollo Feature Request -- Better File Organization and Search Through Tags and Metadata

I have had my Apollo for almost a year now.

I have to say, I am not very happy with many of the functional aspects of Apollo.

Specificaly I see many deficits in how files are organized and also have found the ability to search for files, useless.

For me, these issues are crippling to the point that it renders the unit almost useless as an organizational tool. Unfortunately, over the past year, it has become simply a large DROP BOX, with no user-friendly interface to compile data, nor any "tool" to retrieve data fast. (It's like an overstuffed closet, filled with "objects" that are not labeled, and that I can't get reach.) There should be a more efficient, detailed way to organize beyond: file name, folder name and date.

And, I am afraid to say that I would not recommend the Apollo device to anyone in the photography or design profession. Especially, if you need to find images with particular charateristics, FAST. There should be a better way to handle the organization and the search in the Apollo.

I understand, Apollo is constantly updating the interface. So I am making a request in the hopes that it will be heard and prioritized...because I know I am NOT the only one experiencing these issues. There should be better way to organize beyond: file name, folder name and date.

FEATURE REQUEST:

1) Searchable Tags - If it is possible (currently) to send comments about a photo, there should be a feature that allows users to attach (add/edit) TAGS to each file as well. This would provide a quick way to organize and search for files on the Apollo.

2) Searchable Image Meta Data - Many images already come with metadata attached. There should be a tool to search images via metadata on the Apollo. Currently, I do not see a way to do this. But, having this feature would help users drill down to the files they need, FAST. (Be nice if you could "edit the metadata" through the Apollo dashboard, but I know that's a stretch.)

I can't believe how rubbish this thing is - it's going back to the Macstore this week

1. Camera Roll photos don't appear in Camera Roll folder on my iPhone (though I can see them on my wife's) even though it says they're there (I spent an hour onto support...utter rubbish.. the guy I spoke to didn't seem very knowledgeable at all and it's not fixed)

2. Easy to use instructiosn would help but the quality of help advice is abysmal. For instance setting up my wife as a user.. I set her up, texted/emailed the log in and she said she didn't know how to log in - I looked, was it with my log in details? no, no information there, so I had to resend the invitation just to see what she had received and lo and behold it says 'register'.. why is this missing off the end of the instruction video?? it took a good half hour to solve

3. Day 3 and I'm transfer a few Gb of files via the USB.. 8 hours it's been now you can see it's on 37% and I'm giving up (I've got a Tb photos on another drive so that would take about a month to transfer!!).

I'm packing it back up tomorrow and taking it back to the shop

on my TV settop box there is an app where I can see that my Apollo cloud server is connected - but i need to authenticate and don't arrive with my credentials (user /pwd) I used to setup Apollo Cloud on PC and smart phone ! so :-- The text that appears on TV is about :

I would like to know how the Apollo Cloud integrats into the Files-App of iOS 11. I do not own an Apollo Cloud until now, but I am very interested in.

It seems that the app of Apollo Cloud is fully integrated into the Files-App in iOS 11. During the first start of Apollo Cloud within the Files-App a message is shown up: "To view the items in this folder, you need to authenticate." After confirming the message an authentication window is showing up where the user can login with his Apollo Cloud-account.

Unfortunately I can not go further because I do not own an Apollo Cloud until now.

But it would be great to know how the integration in the Files-App is solved after login with the Apollo Cloud-account.

1. question: Does the authentication-message show up everytime you what to access the Apollo Cloud within the Files-App or does the message only show up onces?

2. question: While accessing the Apollo Cloud within the Files-App, which interface / GUI is used for navigation through the files und folders of the Apollo Cloud? The interface of Apples own Files-App or the interface / GUI of the Apollo Cloud-App?

Home directory of third user is not shown in Finder

Hi, I've got a weird issue with my Apollo Cloud system.

I have made 4 users: Admin, myself, my wife and my daughter. All work with macbook air's.

When I log on to the Apollo cloud app on my macbook I do see in finder multiple directories such as: Apollo123456_Admin and Apollo123456_TimeMachine for every user I use to connect to the system.

However, when I use my daugthers macbook and log on to the Apollo app with her userid I find in finder only Apollo123456_TimeMachine, which is her timemachine configuration I think. So I don't see her directory Apollo123456_daughter. This directory does exist because I can see it within the app.

Any idea how I can get her own home directory in the finder on her macbook?

well, if you log outgoing traffic inititated by the Apollo APP on your MAC you will see quickly, that you do not only access your device, but that the APP "talks" quite a lot to all kinds of IPs. In particular, 621 IP adresses all around the world within the last 10 minutes.

That does not look like a very private cloud.

Will Apollo host my iphone's photos and delete the fotos on my iphone, such that I will significanty reduce storage-usage on my iphone? Or will the Apollo-foto functionality just "copy" my photos to the server and than keep it in sync with my iphone?

Good Day Again to everybody. Time Machine has been setUP on my Apollo4TB and is runing and runing .. long time. Every time when turnON computer is "preparation" for backup and then backingup starts (runing very slow - for example : backing up 200 MB of 54.07 GB. After some time when computer was turnOFF and then turnON again , the same procedure is continue and backUP starts again showing new data : BUCKING UP 25 MB of 54.07 GB. How does it works?

Is the second backUP starting from begining again or is that second backUP as continue to rich goal at 54.07 GB ? I'm improving my knowledge ony by experiencing new task because there is NO MANUAL or DESCRIPTION how to rich a goal . I am using the Apollo Cloud drive on an Apple Mac computer.

I am trying to transfer a large number of JPG files to a folder on my Apollo Cloud drive and seem to have hit a limit as to the number of files are allowed in a folder, as I cannot drag and drop the next block of files into the folder.

I also note that I can access the Apollo Cloud drive via Finder, APOLLO xxxxxx_admin_Apollo Anywhere, and, APOLLO xxxxxx_TimeMachine, but I cannot now access the contents of these two folders by double-clicking them. When I first attached the drive I could do this, what is going wrong?

I Have just set up my Apollo 2TB Cloud on my Mac and created a sync folder then copied some folders to it to hopefully let the cloud sync all the time only to find that it doesn't update.

I looked on the website only to find some old information that doesn't explain the proces well as it uses the old Apollo Utility and doesn't match up with the new app.

When I go to Apollo Sync i select the location of the Sync folder and then it doesn't allow me to choose any of the folders in step 2? So I can't save? The Apollo Sync folder is ticked though. Suggesting it is going to sync.

I have moved my photos library to my Apollo Cloud 2 Duo and shared the folder with my wife. She can see the files from her iPad and iPhone, and from the Apollo app on her Windows 10 box, but not from Explorer. We need to be able to do that so we can point LIghtroom to them.

It even worked fine when we moved to two different tempoary locations from July-Sept and used those home owner's modem/router.

Recently, we moved to our new home and set up the same modem/router as we had in April-June, BUT the router was now connected to separate modem (no FIOS here). Our iPhones connect to Apollo perfectly, but two of our Macs won't connect to Time Machine, at least not to the existing backup that worked a few days before we moved. One of our Macs did connect to Time Machine (although I'm not totally sure it was the existing backup) but now since the firmware update I installed today, that Mac won't connect to Time Machine either.

FYI, the Apollo drive is "mounted". I can see it and open it in Finder. The Apollo Cloud app says "Apollo is ready". I can look at "Files" and "Photos" fine through the Apollo Cloud app and Finder.

Note: In Finder and in Time Machine, the Apollo drive seems to have changed names from "APOLLO680399" to "Apollo". Time Machine shows the latest backup to "Apollo_TimeMachine" on "APOLLO680399" last night. If I try to select the backup disk" "Apollo_TimeMachine" on "Apollo", Time Machine says it "already contains an encrypted backup for this computer. It gives me the option of "Choose a different disk", "Erase Exisiting Backup" or "Use Existing Backup". If I "Use Existing Backup" it starts to write over my existing backup "filename.sparsebundle". I don't want to write over my existing backup, I want to continue WITH it.

Please help! The main reason we bought the Apollo (through the Apple store) was to back up our Macs using Time Machine.

I see there is an option to "Favorite" and an option to add a "Comment" to files. Are the "Comments" similar to a Tag? If yes, are the "Comments" searchable? So far, I can only search file names.

If "Searchable Tags" are not available now, will this feature be available in a future update?

I have recently bought an Apollo 2TB to use as virtual cloud and specifically to store my photo library. I have managed to move a copy of my Photo library across to the Files section of the Apollo disk using the Promises app/utility. I can see that they are then when looking from within the Apollo Utility. However, I cannot use the Photo App from within the utility and cannot point my mac's Photo App to the files; the file structure appears blank when I look for them from within my Mac's Finder.

There are some messages here that appear to allude to similar issues, not quite the same, and your solution is to contact support- but support requires some very peculiar information and I can't see my device listed.

I can't seem to find the setting.

I just got my Apollo Cloud. I have uploaded several folders with hundreds of images in each. On my Mac, the finder window shows the number of files in a folder. On the Apollo, I don't see the number of files in my uploaded folders. Is there a preference setting where I can make this option availble?

It would be helpful as a visual check to make sure all the files uploaded from my Mac made it to my Apollo Cloud.

Now I have set up Apollo and I am discovering that Apollo is only sync'ing the library and I now have it on my C-Drive and on Apollo. It acutally doesn't help to free up my C-Drive at all. In my current setup, I use multiple Transporter Syncs (a now-discontinued product from Nexsan), with one at home, one at my office, and a third in another secure location. I was able to upload my 85 GB photo library from my external hard drive to my new Apollo via USB transfer. It took 6+ hours, but it was saved to a folder- but not to the "apollo anywhere" folder. The Apollo Utility program on my MacBook freezes everytime i try to move the large library to the "apollo anywhere" folder. Any ideas on how to access the current photo library from Photos? or how to move the library without freezing the utility program?

Cloud Folders are Buried Far Too Deep

I'm new to my Apollo Cloud. When I am setting up folders under the Cloud's Title, I can't control how many levels down on the hierarchy or tree the actual working folder is. So whereas I'd like to locate my folders near the top of the tree at say Apollo>Apollo/Cloud Title/Pictures, the only option I'm provided is to confirm that I want my working folder (Pictures in my example) way, way down the hierarchy/tree like this:

Apollo>Apollo/Cloud Title/Apollo>Apollo/Cloud Title/Pictures/Apollo>Apollo/Cloud Title/Pictures

What a mess!, and No I can't delete levels of the tree before confirming. That doesn't work.

Can I just move all the folders and files from the subterranean to near the top of the tree or would that foul up an index or pointer of some sort. Thanks.

I'm having trouble to back up the files of my newly bought Promise Apollo cloud NAS.

I've tried to connect an Iomega external drive to the Apollo but it doesn't 'see' it...

I have already formatted the extrenal drive in an exFAT format (because I thought that that would do the trick) but the Apollo still doesn't see it when I connect it with a USB connection cable.

Can anybody advise me on this topic.
