Issue connecting to Apollo Cloud devices

An issue has been reported by several customers regarding the Apollo Cloud units.

It is not possible to connect to the devices from external or mobile networks, the units are accessible via local LAN only (reproducable).

Promise engineering team is working on a solution, our apologies for the inconvenience.

Apollo 2 duo Apollo Mirrow

Using Apollo 2 duo (BTB RAID 0)with around 3TB data. Bought another one for Apollo Mirror.It's still "replicating" and finished 59% only after 48 hours. Too slow just like using a 56k modem.

It's shown in Apollo Utility that "Mirroring can take several hours to complete", but it might take several weeks to complete.

Failed usb transfer again again again.

Another usb transfer failed!

Another set of erroneous feedback from the device saying 10% had transferred in a few minutes when it was only a few mb.

Another bunch of data sitting on the Apollo which will take a reset to erase.

How difficult can it be to transfer from an attached usb disc? It took 4 hours to get the data onto the disc and a month to have numerous failures to transfer it!

I hoped led a recent firmware update had fixed it but absolutely not.

How can it possibly take 3 days to transfer 500 mb via a wired connection (and fail) unless it was via usb 1 beta? I’m seriously disappointed with this product. And Promises inability to sort it out.

Username/password authentication fails during Time Machine back-up

Issue: Even after successfully connecting with the ApolloXXXX_TimeMachine volume, when Time Machine attempts to perform a back-up, it fails with an error indicating that the username or password used to connect to the volume is incorrect.

Work-around: Launch the Keychain Access application (found in the Utilities folder under the Applications folder). In the search-bar at the upper-right of the Keychain Access window, type in: “smb”. In the filtered list of SMB passwords that result, find those that contain the name of your ApolloXXXX device. In each (there may be more than one), make sure that the “Account” field matches your Apollo Cloud account username (typically your email address). If it doesn’t, edit that field to make it match.

Known Time Machine bug when running macOS X 10.13.4 (High Sierra)

I just set up my new Apollo Cloud 2 Duo, but was unable to get it to work as a Time Machine volume (I get a Time Machine error with "OSStatus 17" after each attempt to connect). A chat with Promise tech support informs me that this is a known issue with macOS X 10.13.4 (High Sierra), and they are working on a fix (no ETA yet, though). I'm willing to wait a week or two for a fix, but I wanted to make anyone needing to use the Apollo Cloud 2 Duo as a Time Machine volume right away aware of this.

Bug? Multiple copies of synced folder

Here's my set-up: two Macs, both running masOS X 10.13.4 (High Sierra), both syncing a single folder, X, via Apollo Cloud. The purpose here is to keep that folder in sync on both Macs at all times.

What happens is, this results in (at least) _two_ parent folders on both Macs, both containing the synced folder X (and a folder named "Apollo Sync Folder"). One parent folder is named Apollo (the name I gave to my Apollo Cloud 2 Duo), the other is given a suffix "(1)" by Apollo, thus: Apollo(1). Attempts to delete this spurious second parent folder on either Mac are futile: Apollo keeps recreating it, and even further iterations (so, Apollo(1), Apollo(1)(1), Apollo(1)(1)(1) and so one seemingly to infinity.)

I even tried turning off Apollo Sync on both Macs, deleteing the spurious folders (Apollo(1) etc.) and then turning Apollo Sync back on: but sure enough, back came Apollo(1) and all the others.

What do I have to do to get just one synced folder X?

Can Apollo Cloud 2 DUO set to only for my office LAN and block internet access ?

I buy a apollo Cloud 2 DUO for a storage for small office. We want to set up the box as a Private NAS, we do not want to let user to access it from internet. If the apollo Cloud 2 DUO can set to do it ?

Drive in Apollo Duo keeps running

My Apollo works great, but after adding files to the drive from my PC, the light that normally glowes on-off now keeps flashing. I can only get it back to normal by disconnecting the power. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Hello,

I have an Apollo drive that has worked well up until the last update on December 27th.

I can't download any files on the Apollo drive from my iMac --- and I am the ADMIN!

Nothing works! I restart my iMac. I restart the Appolo drive. Rechecked for updates, there are none. Nothing fixes the issue. I can't access any files.

Also, I have a Macbook with a "user account". As Admin, I have given this user access to all the files. BUT, from the Macbook user account, I can't see any files except for the files I placed on the Apollo from my MacBook.

None of this makes any sense. This all happened AFTER I updated my Apollo software.

Is anyone else having this issue?

What can be done to fix it?

I do not want Apollo to consume uncontrolled amount of space for backups.

I want to upload 1000's of fotos from my mobile devices intially. But the manual says: "A maximum of up to 100 photo/video files can be selected for upload. Document files can be selected one at a time for upload."

As searching function appears limited to filemname in Apollo, are there any specific filename limitations to be aware of? Are there any specific exclsionary factors/characters in file naming? If one were to append "tags", perhaps comma-separated and within parentheses or brackets, would that be allowable and searchable within the Apollo ecosystem?

Remote Apollo Cloud Mirroring

Validation Code

First post here. I hope I'm posting in the right section.

Just received my Apollo storage. Trying to setup now with iMac. App is downloaded and as far as I can get is the Validation Code screen.

I get an email sent to me and when I click the link to get the code the site it takes me to times out. I have tried receiving the code using Android as well and the site still times out.

Does anyone have any suggestions to get this solved and working?
